For the last several months, I've been working as an independent producer for the MTV Choose or Lose Street Team, covering the gorgeous state of Maine. You can see my work here.
Politically, I lean toward socialism and anarchism, but I participate in the American politcal and economic systems with an eye toward harm-reduction. Anyone who says they don't vote because they're too idealistic to cast a ballot for the "lesser evil" is fooling themselves. Eight years of a George W. Bush presidency ought to be more than lesson enough in the folly of working from the assumption that "all politicians are the same, anyway." In what little free time I have, I enjoy the outdoors - kayaking, hiking, biking, picnicing, playing with my dogs, etc. I'm a fierce environmentalist and an ideological vegetarian, though I believe there are ways to care about animals and the Earth while still eating meat. I love learning new things about this impossibly complex world we live in (and, even though I'm generally a bit of a grammar-nazi, I use prepositions at the ends of sentences without reservation or apology). Sometimes, I just like drinking beer and bowling (candlepin, that is - you haven't really bowled until you've bowled candlepins). I'm fascinated by comparative religion and, in additon to practicing Buddhism, I majored in Biblical Studies for a while in college. I have a working understanding of most major faith traditions, and want to help promote interfaith dialogue. I believe real revolution begins when we each tear down our own walls and really see one another for the first time. My mission in life is to help make that happen by using my skills to help others tell their stories through text, video, audio, or graphics. Wake up! It's time to shake things up!
