Never being really politically active, I only became involved in the freedom movement when a friend of mine introduced me to Ron Paul in October 2007.
I have been a registered Republican since year 18 and have always voted as such. My Republican parents and a tour of duty in the U.S. Army helped to strengthen my conservative, pro-military views. I touted the virtues of Bush and embraced the Neo-Con propaganda with relish, but had become increasingly disillusioned since 2004. Especially when it started to become evident to me that our president did nothing to advance the conservative cause and was eroding our civil liberties. (I.E. forcefully disarming law-abiding citizens after Katrina and suspending Habeaus Corpus, ect.)
My friend who introduced me to RP, also gave me a copy of Aaron Russo's America. I walked around in a depression induced haze for about a week after watching it, before snapping into action...going to RP sign wavings, joining meet-ups and contributing cash to the campaign, even though I don't have a lot of it to spare. Just felt like I needed to do something and I still think I don't do enough.
I have tried my best to awaken others and have been successful with many friends, coworkers and family...though none are such RP fanatics as I am. I remain a disgruntled Republican who vows to take my party back from the Neo-con usurpers. I am very afraid for the future of my country but remain optimistic and hopeful that it can still be turned around.
