There have been several factors that have prompted me to enter the race for Congress in the Second Nevada District, but the most important issue is the economy. I think this is an issue of concern for most Nevadans; I know that it is on my mind every time I fill my car, buy groceries, or pay my power bill.

As a manager in a pawn shop, I have seen some of the people hardest hit by this economic downturn, people like you and me who are trying to do what they can to save their homes, feed their families, or simply to buy a tank of gas. It is these people - and all the other thousands around the state that are also struggling - that I want to stand up and fight for. I intend to make a real difference. I am not a career politician who pays only lip service to these people in need.

Many of the problems that we have today come directly from the policies and the out of control spending of our Federal Government. Our leaders have allowed our dollar to deteriorate versus international currencies, causing everything to increase in price. The hidden inflation factor of higher energy costs, gas prices, and higher food costs are hitting the hard working Nevadans like you and me. Printing more money is not the solution to this problem - it only makes the situation worse. The answer is in sound economic policies, including less taxes and decreased federal spending.

Yet, our government keeps on spending, sending billions in aid to Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Colombia, and many other countries around the globe, while our neighbors here in Nevada and around the United States are losing their homes. We continue to fund an empire of military bases in over 100 foreign countries, yet we close bases here at home, crushing local economies as a result. We continue to pour billions of dollars into a bloated Federal Department of Education and No Child Left Behind, not allowing people any local input to determine the kind of education they want for their children. And is this the government that some people want to control our health care?

I will go to Washington to ask the hard questions and fight for those like myself: hard working Nevadans who have a 40-50 hour a week job that just does not seem to be enough to make ends meet because of our lost purchasing power. I will be there to answer to you, the citizens of Nevada; not to a bunch of special interests that just want to continue to feed at the slop trough.

I'm prepared to have a conversation, eager to listen, and ready to represent you.

Together We Win!
