In my professional world, I am an expert in traumatic loss and child death in families. I am a professor, researcher, and public speaker. My research focuses on thanatology, and has been published in peer reviewed journals such as Omega and Families in Society. I am the CEO of an international nonprofit agency that provides aid to families after child death. I also received my doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and my Masters degree and Bachelor's degree in psychology from Arizona State University.
In my personal life, I am a seeker and an activist. Knowledge without action feels pointless to me. My most important role is as a mother to five children, now mostly grown, four who walk and one who soars.
I do keep a blog that I visit regularly. My blog URL is drjoanne.blogspot.com but its mostly about death :-)
