Now that the production jobs have left the US it seems that the newest growth industry
involves Americans preying on each other

sub-prime mortgages, debt instruments, hidden fees, etc. and, perhaps the fastest growing domestic industry - the prison industry, are all indicators that our economy is turning from capitalism to cannibalism....

Yes, it is a little frightening

I don't want to be the pessimist, and there's always the hope that we can learn how to exist independently and then perhaps co-exist in a productive way

But the system seems set up right now to split a portion of the country down the middle into jailers and prisoners, debtors and collectors. We'll have to ween ourselves off of that system to avoid preying on each other.
