I was back in Illinois in the late 90's. They had oil wells pumping the time before I was there, but on this particular day, no oil was being pumped. So I asked why. They explained that the price of crude was going for $12 a barrel, and not worth pumping.
How can crude hit $133 a barrel today? They say it is shortage of supply. I don't believe it. Manipulation and exploitation perhaps. War profiteering yes. But if you look at prices from 2000 until 2008 you will see a trend. What happened during those 8 years?
They blame India and China. But how does it go from $12 a barrel to $133? They say progress in the world is to blame, and that this progress helps people live better lives. I don't believe it. It makes slaves out of people. It extorts societies and the rich get richer.
I would have to blame policies and government. I would have to blame foreign policies and the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United States Agency for International Development, all of which are funded by your tax dollars. These groups create dependency around the world. The structural adjustment policies imposed by these groups, which keep these second and third world nations hostage by merely borrowiing more money from the loan sharks that hold them down, create dependency. In order to not default on their loans, these groups lend them more money and impose structural adjustment policies that control their lands, environment, and sovereignty, often times funding corrupt regimes in the process.
These agencies lend them money to fund such things as agriculture or sell them generators, all of which consume petro. This is the dependency, and then the rise of prices. Add in a war, there is a lot of petro being consumed. And now we pay $4 a gallon for gas.
But do look at the prices from say 1996 until 2008.
I don't fall for the supply and demand or the fear on future supply. I think it is hype.
This is the extortion of society as we know it.
Because at $12 a barrel 10 years ago, I just don't buy into the propoganda as seen nightly on the news as they give their explanation.
I'll stick to my own beliefs.
This is the elitist plan, and more disturbing is how this happened during Bush's presidency.
