Two of our members were key players at the Libertarian Party Nominating Convention in Denver. Mary Ruwart-- the Ron Paul stalwart-- was a leading vote getter in the presidential balloting through SIX ballots before finally falling to Bob Barr. And Wayne Root is the Vice Presidential nominee on the Barr-- Root ticket that emerged from the convention. Mary and Wayne have their political differences-- obviously. But they're on the front lines; they're working for positive change; and don't we all have our differing views to some degree or another? It's an honor to have Mary Ruwart and Wayne Root as a part of BreakTheMatrix. Congratulations to both of you.

The Bare - Root Ticket

Sorry! Couldn't resist having a little fun with the names. I am no longer involved with the LP, but I would have liked to have seen Mary heading up the ticket. Best wishes to Barr and Root, I hope they can make a big break through for the LP, especially without Ron Paul on the GOP ticket.

At least with Bob Barr on the ticket, it could cause a large increase in the 'Cain campaign Maalox bill. If the Barr campaign starts taking on the appearance being an alternate to McCain for a lot of Republicans, then the GOP might begin considering other options. I am always open to wishful thinking.

Ruwart, Barr and Root

I'm not a Libertarian, but I must admit to some considerable interest in the presidential nominating process there-- and whether the outcome (a Barr/Root) ticket will advance the cause of the freedom movement. The questions: Is Bob Barr really a freedom person? Is the movement gaining ground by having Barr/Root as an outside campaign at the same time that many Ron Paul supporters are working hard within the Republican Party taking on delegate/leadership roles against entrenched opposition? Who (if anyone) should Ron Paul endorse, assuming McCain gets the Republican nomination? Who (if anyone) should Mary Ruwart endorse? And perhaps most important of all for those of us who are not members of either the Libertarian or Constitution parties-- should we vote for Barr or Baldwin in November? Questions-- not answers. R
