The Hand that Rocks the Cradle

The value and power of women is every day underestimated, not only by men but by women themselves (admit it, ladies). Historically, we had plenty of help. We have been systematically denied the right to minister, teach, own and inherit property, divorce, and vote among other things. Even today in the United States, we earn (on average, varying by state) 76 cents for each $1 a man earns for doing the exact same job. A female tax, if you will--I'd rather not.

Not surprisingly, American women have played a powerful role in freedom-centered social movements--in the abolition of slavery, in acquiring the right to vote, and in the fight for racial equality. So must we play a role in this social movement.

In a nation run by men, knee-deep in war and even deeper in debt, are we not obligated to shout our outrage and demand the change we know is possible? We give life to and nurture the children they send to fight and die in unconstitutional wars. Demand they bring our children home NOW. We work hard educating ourselves for better jobs and financial stability, only to be taxed right back into poverty. Demand they release us from economic slavery. Demand a return to sound currency. We are compassionate, resilient, and courageous problem solvers, and yet were are given politico-corporate propaganda and entertainment photo ops. Demand truth and accountability from the government and mainstream media.

If the hand that rocks the cradle truly rules the world, the first step must be recognizing the enormous power we wield as women. The second must be forming community with one another much like a pride of mama lions. Grrr...

it is the universal mother

it is the universal mother who provides sustenance for us all~ if mankind were more appreciative of her many blessings, we would be better as a people. Gratitude begets blessings:)

Sometimes I like to imagine

Sometimes I like to imagine our congress and senate filled with little ol' grandmas

wouldn't that be something- viva the the crone

Our dominator culture has done everything to displace the "goddess"

The feminine has been trampled in so many ways, including THE mother- Earth

nice post thanks Lisa

Have you ever been to a GOP

Have you ever been to a GOP meeting? The old ladies are the most bitter and stubborn of the bunch! Still, a great article by Lisa. It's rare that you find an article about empowering women and including motherhood as a part of it.

In a nation run by men,

In a nation run by men, knee-deep in war and even deeper in debt...

I disagree. This nation is run by demons, not by men. Prime example: Hillary Clinton.

I just the love very last

I just the love very last line, and I'm proud that you put it in! It's sad that many American women are voting for Hillary, for no other reason than that she is a woman. I have no doubt in the stone-cold power of a strong woman. It's the ones who are corrupt you have to watch out for. :)

But you're right, it's time for us as women... as Americans.... as people of the Earth.... to stand up for what we believe in. We're making history, people! Every day that we live, we are making history.

This article was just beautiful, Lisa. Thank you for sharing.

Stop whining and figure out

Stop whining and figure out how to change it. Regurgitating "end goals" (what we all want to happen) instead of "plans of action" (how to get TO the goal) is a complete waste of time.

Boo hoo - yes we all know it's unfair (and if you are a plump, 60 year old woman with wrinkles, grey hair and one breast, oh trust me you don't get served first at the counter of life).

We all know the problems. We all know who is to blame. What no one seems to be focusing on is the HOW do we change this.

If you can offer nothing people can do to emplower themselves in solving the problem, at least please stop picking at the sore and making it bleed.

Being a woman is like being charcoal colored - it won't stop "mattering" until you stop making it an issue all the time. Change your communication to what you want, not what you want to go away.

One simple way: Always speak of the total of humanity or people as being a 3rd person plural. "All people, they" - NOT "all men, he"

Another: start speaking up more in groups of people. You are going to get your ears beat back only the first 2,000 times you do it...well, maybe the first 20,000 times but if more women continued standing up and did not just SHUT UP every time they open their mouths and are met with arrogant dismissal, it might go a lot faster.

As they saying goes: Brave Up!

kindest regards
Renee (and yes, I am a 60 year old woman as described above)

I'm not going to say that

I'm not going to say that women are better than men but I do like them better than men.

How about we work together on this one, ladies?

Well said, Lisa! BTW, I've

Well said, Lisa!

BTW, I've met Lisa personally on many occasions and she is FAR from being a shriveled up crone! She is a beautiful, intelligent, caring PERSON.

I've said for years that men shot themselves in the foot here in America, long ago. The missing ingredient? RESPECT! Men had it made here for many years, or so they thought; now the worm has turned and they are finding out what it means to turn a deaf ear.

I like what I see in America with our new GEN X'ers. They are learning that if you want respect, you GIVE IT first.

America was a fun place to grow up in, back in the 40's and 50's. I've watched it deteriorate into the mess it is nowadays. It is more fun to watch it snap back into the freedom-loving people we were, half a century ago. I don't care what age you are, what you do for a living, or any other thing that you use to define yourself, HALF as much as WHO you are. Remember folks, it don't matter nearly as much who you WERE as who you ARE!

Lisa is the epitome of the hope America provides. Watch her closely and learn. (Besides, she's very easy on the eyes! Lovely voice, too. tee hee!)

Lisa is a leader; even though she once was a democrat, she pulled herself up out of that quagmire by listening to her own heart and mind. Both of which, in my humble open, are true-blue American.

If she is the future of femininity in America, ROCK ON!

I don't worry about nuthin.....
Unless it jumps right out in front of me......
Then I don't worry about it......
Unless it tries to bite me.......
Then I don't worry about it......
I just kill it!
No worries!

My mother is an amazing

My mother is an amazing woman who spends two months out of every year at our state capital fighting for freedom and prosperity--and for the decency without which neither freedom or prosperity can exist.

She does not believe in "feminism," or goddess worship, or in a universal mother that exists without a Heavenly Father--but she does believe in one thing that everyone else visiting this website also believes in: FREEDOM!

She believes in the real kind of freedom and prosperity; not in the false freedom of license, or in the fake prosperity of licentiousness.

Freedom has its reciprocal in responsibility, and these two in action with each other constitute an engine that can turn the world upside down.

My mother believes that women have a responsibility first to themselves, and then to others.

For themselves they are responsible to gain understanding of who they are. Women are not a trophy; they are not an object; they are not a plaything. Women are God's grandest creation. They have a purpose, which entails responsibility.

Their responsibility leads to freedom insomuch as they take responsibility to guide and nurture the future generations of earthly citizens in paths of humility before God and goodness to each other. My wife's mother taught her this responsibility, and now she is passing that wisdom on to our two daughters. These wise, caring women are of momentous import to the final destiny of freedom in our nation.

If women fulfill their responsibilities to the future, then we can have freedom. If women neglect their responsibilities, then freedom is but a shadow in time; a mere gasp of cool air in the midst of a stifling oppression.

Societies rise and fall with the virtue of their women. The role of men is to defend and uphold that virtue, so that future generations can live and thrive. If we do not pass on to future generations the veneration of the roll of women within a free society, then we may enter into a time of Plato's dream, where the concept of mother means nothing. When that happens, the concept of "woman" is bankrupt, and her responsibility is left unfulfilled--the babe of freedom is left to wither in the summer sun.

God bless the mothering women in America who understand their responsibility to teach the rising generations about their dependence on the God of our fathers, and who school them in the ways of freedom and prosperity. God bless the man who ensures the virtue and security of such a woman. If the two work together, then freedom and prosperity can prevail in America.

I have read more than one

I have read more than one study on the causes of the pay inequality. The results show that women keep themselves down by not negotiating as hard for pay and by tearing each other down (queen bee syndrome). That being said, other than the feminist rant the article has some good points in that women and men need to fuel the revolution. We all need to get educated and argue intelligently with neocons that call us kooks. People are listening now that their retirement accounts and wallets are getting hammered on by years of bad decisions by politicians of both parties. Lets give them the answers....
