Continued erosion of liberty

I just cannot imagine what this judge was thinking:

In sum, a father was sentenced to six months in prison because his nearly 19-year-old daughter failed the GED exam. What an egregious violation. This type of thing makes me want to move far, far, far away. Happy Freaking Father's Day.

you can be ordered to make

you can be ordered to make sure your child passes a test? this is surreal.
there must be more to that story than that. maybe the father slept with the judge's wife or something.
i can't help but wonder how it got to the point where a judge ordered the man to make sure his daughter passes the test. that's what's missing in the story. how did he end up in court in front of a judge where he was getting a talking to. maybe that was a probationary measure to let keep him from jail for some other offence.

I know...

Surreal -- is this the U.S.? Or wait, some Orwellian hell to where I've been transported.

this is not necessarily as outrages as it sounds

the lack of background information in this article really prevents us from drawing conclusions.
i remember hearing about instances in which, during sentencing for a shoplifting charge, a man would be ordered to stand in front of the store for a few hours holding a sign. not that i agree with that kind of sentence but for some it may be a better option than going to jail. in such a case, if the man does not actually go through with what he was told to do as punishment, i suppose he could be jailed for the crime that sentence was given for.
now, without that background shoplifting information, you could write an article saying: man goes to jail for not holding up a sign like the judge told him to. that would be misleading.
i think because this article fails to give background information about how the man ended up with this order to have his daughter pass a test, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

There was another story...

On CNN that gave more details, and sadly, it seems our initial assessment is more generous than not.

Thanks for the friend add :-)

Socialist Judicial System

There has been a movement amongst the legal community for at least 20 years to break up the family unit. This is one of the tools which has been employed by communist regimes throughout the 20th century. Both the USSR & Mao's Cultural Revolution seperated children from their parents. Taking children from their parents & putting them in the "state" system ensures that they will receive the proper indoctrination and grow up to good, obedient, wage/debt slaves.
