It is ours to lose

Our only threat, to me, it seems is our repeated expenditures for Israel's continuance; this includes our war with Iraq and maybe our future war with Iran. It really is not a question of Israel's existence...it's a question of Israel's policies of stealing land from the Palestinians. When they have to give back what they stole, WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. We are really, really stupid. At the last count, we (U.S. citizens) paid $240,000 for each unit that they constructed illegally from their confiscated land. Israel has better roads and streets than the South of France. They earn about the equivalent of most Europeans (with U.S. aid included, of course) We equivocate about giving aid to victims of Katrina aid and we bow down to Israel. It must stop! I want the 3 billion dollars that we give Israel each year for Louisiana. We need it. They don't.

Whoa, slow down there skippy...

Who cares whether the Israelis "stole" land from the Palestinians (which is arguable since the Palestinians never actually established sovereignty ANYWHERE) or whether the Palestinians initially rejected the lands they were given (as part of the UN partition plan of 1947) when they declared war on Israel. I fanything, you could say that the non-existent Palestinian state that accepted annexationo by Jordan would mean that Jordan is who lost the West Bank... Oh, and since the Palestinians did not start moving into the lands until AFTER the Jewish people were exiled by the Romans... then who really is the "rightful" claimant to the lands? It's funny though, how the lands were completely uninhabitable until after the Jewish people were granted the lands back by the British.

Ahhh, but that's not the point. Yes, expenditures to Israel is a fiscal nightmare. No, America should not ally itself to one country or another (especially at the expense of American lives). Foreign interventionism is the fastest way to fall down the slippery slope.

Personally, given their zionist beliefs (and everything the world would have to lose at their fall), I would say that Israel is more than capable of protecting herself, and through my own spiritual beliefs, I understand that when God is ready to fulfill His will on earth, he will do so... regardless.

BUT, the history of Israel and the West Bank (as it relates to America's poor fiscal spending) is irrelevant -- particularly when you spread Arab propaganda.

if you're interested

you should read and listen to Chomsky on the subject of the Israel/Palestinian conflict. i take Chomsky's take on this matter. the man's done his research. again, if you're interested in hearing the other side of the story, give him a try. i would recommend his books regardless.

Barry Chamish

Hey Swarelis - Have you read any of Barry Chamish's stuff? I like the things he has written because you can feel that he is emotionally invested in the state & status of the Nation of Israel. He seems to be genuinely pained by the things happening in his own country.

if he's emotionally invested

if he's emotionally invested in the the country he writes about then i'm sure he's taking sides. i don't have much interest in that. i'll check him out anyhow out of curiosity.
