Could we please have an option to remove The Revolution book advert from the front page?
It's way too big, and annoying to have to scroll past to see the content below it.
In future, could any ads of this type please have the option for each member to minimise or remove them as fits their own personal choice. In this new medium where members are here because we object to having the media force us to see what they want us to see, why am I forced to see something I don't wish to see?
Yes, this is pretty much the same issue as brought up by vertebrae8 in regard to morals and ethics. In this interactive medium, there is no technical reason why we should not have the choice to hide those elements that are personally disagreeable.
For BTM to really progress as a community, we need to hand control back to the individual.

I second that emotion but when people get a whiff of freedom and personal liberty they become compassionate about having the right to form and voice their opinions just as you have. Also this site structure is extremely high tech and well organized; the best of the best in my view and as you said they are busy but they also have plenty of room for feedback of any nature in this beta edition. Hang tight we all fit in this piece of the puzzle together somehow.......I think we will see a big change in the way we surf the net and fewer things will be as important True the marketing is heavy; it really sucks but its still easy enough to NEVER look at the ads on this and other sites. and thank god for popup blockers they do make these little annoyances (marketers) easier to handle.
> Yes, this is pretty much the same issue as brought up by vertebrae8 in regard to morals and ethics.
no, it is not. vertebrae8 is someone who thinks that he is the most important member on this site and should be in the position to dictate to us what is and what isn't morally acceptable.
Your post is just mindless whining. You're complaining that you have to scroll? Move the mouse over to the right side of the screen, hold down a button and move it down? And this annoys you so much that you're actually proposing that the site developer (who probably is overworked as it is) implement a new feature?
> there is no technical reason why we should not have the choice to hide those elements that are personally disagreeable.
there is a simple 'technical' solution to this: just go visit another site if you don't agree with what's on this one. that's the approach I take towards CNN. I just don't visit their site. Maybe it's just me, but I think not being forced to visit this site is option enough.
The book bomb is not an advertisement. It's a public service effort to attempt to help Ron Paul sell books. Actually, we thought that most in our community would appreciate the effort-- but your comments are certainly noted. We'll be back to a regular front page soon, but not yet-- still want to sell more books. R
