Look Ma (trix) - No SIGS

Although BtM does not currently offer its members the option of joining "special interest groups," perhaps by the time it outgrows "Myspace" it will. Then we will be able to sign up for groups like "Gun Owners," "Home Schoolers," "Cuneiform Poetry," and "I Hate NeoDaCon."

Maybe they could be called "Matrix Interest Groups" - "MIGS" or perhaps "Special Matrix Interest Groups" - "SMIGS"

"So, what SMIGS do you belong to?"

"I was thinking of going SMIGGing tonight."

Then again, I would hate to see it become too cliquey"

It is probably too early to implement interest groups. However, if they do come about I would be more interested in them in order to seek out talent or advice in areas that I lack.

Perhaps a searchable database of peoples' skills would be more useful. Members could fill out a form with the skills they have and rate their level of expertise, say - beginner - hobbyist - expert - certified - advanced - master. They could use the vocabulary peculiar to their talent.

Then they could indicate how they would offer their skills - free, volunteer, paid, trade, one time only etc. Evertyhing is, after all, negotiable.

Just Thinking out loud here.

BTW - I didn't intend for the names MIGS or SMIGS to be taken seriously.

I think this is a fantastic

I think this is a fantastic idea and have learned that something along these lines might be in "the works"

I, too, prefer not to think of it as cliques. I like to think of it as matrix breaking task forces (We'll never get a cool acronym from that) who could, together, more effectively address specific areas of concern with their particular expertise.

For instance; I'm sure there are those who could put their heads together to develop a "Revolutionary" instant messenger service that could "Revolutionize" the "Revolution" with "Revolutionary" new features...okay, I'll stop that, but you see what I mean?

The potential is staggering. There are bonifide experts, within this revolution, in every field you can think of. We just need to facilitate organized rallying points for them.

God bless,
Nick
