Our government has required that X amount of corn must be used for ethanol production to spur the "alternative fuels" industry. This is despite the fact that ethanol production requires that the mash be heated to very high temperatures and natural gas or petroleum products are used to accomplish this.

Cellulosic ethanol uses every part of the corn plant EXCEPT the part that can nourish homo sapiens.

I find it hard to believe that the food shortages and rise in commodity prices is not in some way affected by this central government policy. As Rick Santelli(who reports from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange live for CNBC and has commented on how the floor traders applaud the Good Doctor for holding Bernanke's feet to the fire) has stated...are we going to put a hammer and sickle one the flag next?!?

...electric/solar is still the best option in my opinion...but I am a stockbroker not an "alternative fuel expert"
