Posted by shelly on Sun, 06/14/2009 - 7:39pm in

WE DID IT!! HR 1207 has reached a majority with 228 co-sponsors! S 604 is HR 1207's companion bill, and currently has TWO co-sponsors. We must get this bill some support, and make sure it doesn't get watered down along the way.

Current Call-A-Thon Targets:

6/16 - Jim Bunning (R-KY) (member of Banking Committee) 202-224-4343
UPDATE: Several people have been told by Bunning's staff that he is a co-sponsor. I just called again, and the guy I talked to said he is NOT a co-sponsor. Will call later to see if I get a different answer...

6/15 - Richard Shelby (R - AL) 202.224.5744 (ranking member on Banking Committee)
Make sure you let him know you demand a FULL AUDIT, without his amendment to water the bill down (read this & this)

6/12 - Kay Hutchison (R - TX) 202-224-5922 (on the Senate Banking Committee)

6/12 - Robert Bennett (R - UT) (202) 224-5444 (on the Senate Banking Committee)

CO-SPONSORED 6/11: Jim DeMint (on the Senate Banking Committee) 202.224.6121

THANK YOU for your support & phone calls!

“To understand how unwise it is to have the Federal Reserve, one must first understand the magnitude of the privileges they have. They have been given the power to create money, by the trillions, and to give it to their friends, under any terms they wish, with little or no meaningful oversight or accountability. Thus the loudest arguments against greater transparency are likely to come from those friends, and understandably so.”

WHAT ARE HR 1207 & S 604, AND WHY DO WE WANT TO AUDIT THE FED?

Great article from the Mises institute:
The Federal Reserve System is accountable to no one; it has no budget; it is subject to no audit; and no Congressional committee knows of, or can truly supervise, its operations. The Federal Reserve, virtually in total control of the nation's vital monetary system, is accountable to nobody -- and this strange situation, if acknowledged at all, is invariably trumpeted as a virtue.
Read it here: http://blog.mises.org/archives/010082.asp

A little more background:
In 1950 the law was changed to exempt the federal reserve from *any* auditing procedures. So, the Fed can use our tax dollars however they wish, without any obligation whatsoever to tell us what they're doing.

HR 1207 & S 604 seek to repeal that portion of the code, so when we ask questions, they HAVE to answer.

Why is this important?

As just one example, right now the fed is refusing to give a public accounting of the trillions in recent taxpayer backed loans. Just look at the 700 billion in TARP funds that congress appropriated and the Fed refused to talk about -- we now know a portion of it ended up going to bonuses for the AIG execs.

We deserve to know how our tax dollars are being spent, and allowing the Federal Reserve to remain out of control and shrouded in secrecy *clearly* allows for abuse.

HR 1207 & S 604 are our chance to put an end to this.

So, what can you do to help? Go here and sign the petition to urge your congressman to co-sponsor the bill:

S.604 Will Die In Senate, But...

I hate to be a pessimist, but I just don't see this bill becoming law. I'd love to see the Federal Reserve audited and eventually abolished. The problem is that there are too many politicians with skeletons in their closets-you know, the kind of skeletons that have secrets they'd like to share. My guess is that S.604 will die in the Senate and that'll be the end.

OK, so here's what we'll do...

Go to your employer's payroll office now and fill out a new W-4. Put "Exempt" on the bottom line so no more federal withholding is taken out. Save up the amount that would've been taken out and, next year, pay it to your state. My husband and I just paid the $60,000 we owed in federal income taxes for 2008 to our home state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin cashed the checks without question. We also notified the IRS of our actions. We haven't heard back from them.

So that's the plan. Pay your federal taxes (corporate, personal income, etc.) to your state and let Washington DC have the recession this time. If you don't like bad government, stop paying for it. Shall we?

NICE

I like that. I like it very much. Enough to really do it. I have an IRA which is taxed when the money is withdrawn and I am sure you know this. You know this is what you call doing something. I can do this....thank you.

everyone should....I like your quote "If you don't like bad government, stop paying for it. Shall we?"

ATTN: Californians writing to Senator Dianne Feinstein

Please do a little research and include a rebuttal to the following statement when writing to her. Otherwise, her staffs will probably send you an auto-reply that so many of us have gotten that go something like this:

"While I recognize the importance of accountability in the operations of the Federal Reserve, I strongly believe that monetary decisions should be made independent of political influence or motives."

The Fed is already under political influence because the President appoints the Chairman.
The Fed has a MONOPOLY over a FIAT Currency that Americans MUST accept under legal tender laws.

So it makes no sense for any of these politicians to claim they believe monetary decisions should be made independent of political influence or motives. It already is POLITICALLY INFLUENCED, and INDEPENDENCE should be for the marketplace, not private bankers that has a monopoly over our money that uses legal tender laws to force us to accept them.

Please include your logic and reason to the points stated above so that they cannot keep responding to our calls and letters by that quote. If you still get that quote, it proves they don't even bother reading your concern!

Banking and Credit Card Industries....

The banking and credit cards industries are under a lot of fire lately. (Well, they probably deserve it.) The major banking and finance groups that offer the most credit in the credit card industry, such as Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and Citigroup are bracing for what they think is going to be the next massive hit which is an increase in the rate of credit card default after a sharp rise in mortgage default. They cite that credit card default rates rise in concordance with the jobless rate, as more people lose income and are unable to sustain their payments, or get installment loans to be able to make payments on their credit cards.

Tell Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) to cosponsor S604

He is up for re-election in 2010 and his conservative base in NC is none too happy with him. He voted for the Paulson TARP bank bailout.

Every Republican House rep in NC has cosponsored HR1207 along with two Democratic reps.

Call and fax Senator Burr and tell him to cosponsor S604: The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009!

Good, but...

I don't see success for 1207. The powers-that-be would rather nuke an American city before letting the truth come out. Look for Senate blockage or "extraordinary" circumstances to derail the legislation.

On the bright side, after the Fed refuses to be audited, I believe that the People will be one step closer to realizing that racks and guillotines work better than phone calls and saying "please".

Letter to Senator Bob Bennett for Co-sponsoring S 604

I called 202.224.5444 and spoke with someone from Senator Bennett's office. He said to e-mail also.
Below is my letter to Senator Bob Bennett, member of the Senate Banking Committee. Copy, paste and personalize this letter then submit it here: http://bennett.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=EMail This takes only a few minutes, but if all of us do it, we can make a huge difference working together.

Senator Bennett,

Yesterday HR 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, achieved the crucial number of co-sponsors for a majority in the House of Representatives. There are now 222 co-sponsors, according to a press release from Ron Paul's Congressional website. We must still clear certain hurdles to see HR 1207 become law, but that bill has already achieved powerful momentum.

It is time for us to focus on the Senate Bill complement to HR 1207. That bill is S 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009, sponsored by Senator Bernie Sanders. We, the People of our great nation, respectfully ask you to co-sponsor S 604 and obtain other co-sponsorships from Senators within your sphere of influence. HR 1207 and S 604 are the two most important pieces of legislation in American history, because they affect every man, woman and child regardless of age, race, religion, political affiliation or any other difference used by some as a lever to divide our countrymen.

Central banking is THE real issue that has for way too long been hidden among so many divisive pseudo issues thrust down our throats by mainstream media in their successful attempt to divide Americans along our obvious differences. HR 1207 and S 604 represent true solutions to the single most pervasive issue threatening American freedom and sovereignty, a central bank controlled by foreigners with no respect for our Constitution or basic American principles. The Federal Reserve's existence on American soil with authorization to operate in darkness is a totally intolerable situation that you have an exceptional capability to end once and for all.

We, the People of this great nation, ask you to co-sponsor S 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. You can help us save America from a central banking establishment that is totally un-American. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Matt Sistrunk

I'm Still At A Loss On All This

Since Congress created the Federal Reserve, how can the NOT have any power over it inherently due to the fact that they were a creation of Congress.....

I'm sorry, but I truly am lost on all of this, as I am sure most older Americans well versed in American history are, but apparently not most of the members of Congress, not those that are not simply confronting Congress for its negligence, rather than going through this bill sponsoring. I hope you get the Senate, but since the Senate represents the states, and also the Chamber of Commece for those states more so than the House members even do, I hope you get the support.

But, again, just who is going to do this audit anyway, as I questioned previously.....Arthur Anderson, or one of the other CFR or Chamber of Commerce members? The Chamber of Commerce was one of the biggest benefactors of the stimulus monies through a "grant" so they can now "educate" the public on "free market capitalism," which is not "capitalism" at all, merely "corporatism" for their big business corporations.

At this point, I do believe most of these sites also were beneficiaries of grant monies and stimulus checks, directing attention now away from that health care fiasco Congress is now planning for the unions, big business and the insurance companies benefit, again, at the citizen and taxpayer's expense. "Mandatory" health insurance laws. When some can't pay their rent.

Absolutely, wackos in Washington at this point. Every one of them.

New Facebook Cause, Support S. 604: Federal Reserve Sunshine Act

Hey Shelly,

Please join and promote this new Facebook Cause, Support S. 604: Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009, by clicking here http://apps.facebook.com/causes/298237?m=221e7c3f. We did a pretty good job of raising awareness about HR1207 through online networking forums like Facebook. Let's stay with a good technique and do the same for S. 604. We can get the word out even faster than we did for H.R. 1207 with that experience to build on. Thanks for everything you're doing to preserve freedom and sovereignty in America.

Joined up and sending out invites.

I hope the little effort I made at the recent RNC State Convention helped with DeMint's decision. I can always think so... 8-)

Thanks for the encouragement Daniel. It feels good to do something constructive toward solving these huge problems we're facing. Congratulations on your success with DeMint. That's an important step toward getting a majority of U.S. Senators on our side.
