This is my introduction to many of you so I will be “on my best behavior” as my grandmother still cautions (never mind that I’m turning 35 this year). I’ve been told on occasion that my life is “colorful.” A fair assessment indeed.

I’m a native Hoosier –Indiana born and raised. Although I lived in Tampa, FL for a year and Atlanta for two years, I returned to Indianapolis in 1997. My feisty ninety year old grandmother is here; my Dad and my sisters are here; and with the exception of my mom who lives in Texas, my entire family is here. But alas, in a few short months, I am leaving my Indiana home for the bright lights of Hollywood.

Am I scared? Terrified. But oddly enough, that fear is what confirms my need to make such a huge move with my two beautiful little boys and my yorkie in tow. As a young woman, walking through that fear to the other side can seem almost impossible; I know this from experience. But I also know that I won’t acquire the confidence to achieve anything until I do walk through that fear. And I can’t change the news media or the American government without confidence, so lookout Hollywood –here I come!

I am bringing to Basic Media my life experience as a woman, as a mother, as a lifelong learner, as a writer, and as an activist. I am bringing my passion for politics and truth, even though both can be very ugly. I am bringing a message of hope and empowerment for women across America. I am bringing a few laughs, because God knows we can all use a little more laughter. And finally, I’m bringing my wild, Irish temper – so take care not to cross me (and send me potatoes if you do).

There’s a lot of information out there and my job is to bring you the most intriguing, infuriating, fascinating, uplifting, compelling, and truthful information I can get my little hands on. I’ll even be asking you, my viewers, to keep an eye out for newsworthy stories and events. We’ll be meeting new people, learning about new things we truly need to know about, and uncovering secrets of all sorts! Be sure to tune in this fall for Lisa’s Secrets.
