These are Strangebedfellows in action-- Glenn Greenwald of www.Salon.com and Jane Hamsher of www.firedoglake.com from the left joining with Ron Paul republicans to bring REAL change to Washington DC in 2008 and beyond. Our friends from the left are every bit as disgusted with their Democratic congressional leadership (Pelosi; Hoyer, et al) as we in the Ron Paul community are with mainstream Republican leadership on the right. There's a realignment going on-- and to use that term is not an overstatement in the slightest. It's been building for awhile-- the Democrat/Republican two party scam has been fooling people for quite some time, but the masks are off and it's not working for them any more. The two parties showed their true colors during the corrupt process of FISA "compromise" and reauthorization-- where the leadership of both parties stood united, and the Congress voted massively in favor of warrantless surveillance and retroactive immunity for lawbreaker telecoms. Bipartisan support for the police state; bipartisan support for criminal conduct by the executive branch and their telecom gofers; bipartisan rejection of civil liberties and the Bill of Rights. This is what those people stood for, and the leadership support for FISA showed us in the clearest possible terms who those people in our Washington DC culture truly are.
The AccountabilityNowPAC is being established and funded to put an end to the stranglehold of tired Washington DC establishment leaders from both parties. In a very real sense, the realignment in our political culture has already happened, and we owe a shoutout to our leftist friends who see it in the same way that we do in the Ron Paul community. The new shape of the political landscape is an establishment leadership class aligned in a bipartisan way against the American public that they purport to serve, and our entire purpose in becoming and forming Strangefellows is to frame a grassroots counterforce around two core issues where we are closely aligned (civil liberties and the war) to take back our country once and for all. Ambitious-- yes; impossible-- not at all. The DC leadership class is hopelessly out of touch, and the time has come to hold them ACCOUNTABLE-- NOW.

This was the date, you might recall, when Richard Nixon resigned the presidency in 1974, and this particular day above all others was selected for a very important reason by the Strangebedfellows in planning the moneybomb. Nixon resigned from office because he learned from his own illegal surveillance activities that not even a president is above the law, but now, it seems, that lesson needs to be delivered to our so--called leaders all over again. Nothing in the Nixon legacy comes even close to the rampant and unconstitutional lawbreaking activity of the George Bush executive branch over the past eight years, and the Democratic leadership signed on with the Bush lawbreakers en masse by approving the FISA reauthorization. A president and his group of telecom cronies have placed themselves above the law in 2008-- with the full support and approval of a bipartisan leadership group in Congress, and it's time for something different than what we have in DC today. AccountabilityNowPAC is the very tool that will create a political movement to send these people a message they'll never forget. Pledge; contribute; become a Strangebedfellow.
