Earlier this month, I wrote about my experience watching the candidates at the Heartland Libertarian conference debate.

Excerpt:
"On the one hand, I think it is great that the tedious politics of the two major parties has caused Gravel and Barr to flee. I think it is probably a welcome development that the Libertarian Party is old enough (founded 1971) and strong enough (has had 50-state ballot access in two previous presidential election years, is likely to have 48-state access this year making it better than Green or Constitution parties by far) to attract refugees from the other parties. If they would give up their socialistic tax and spend policies, Barr or Gravel would be very welcome as participants in the Libertarian Party, in my view. But, as banner carriers for the party, as the nominee for president, neither is sufficiently libertarian, in my view."

This weekend, though I've been very ill, I plan to attend the final day of the Constitution Party's convention, see what they have on offer.

Wayne Root! I believe that

Wayne Root! I believe that Wayne Root would be a fantastic candidate for the LP. Philosophically he is great. There are other candidates that are philosophically great as well though. What Root brings to the table is his electability. Root, being someone that has been in the media in various roles for quite some time is a great communicator. He is charismatic and energetic and knows how to get people excited. This is so important. Especially when trying to do more than just win the support of long time objectivist Libertarians. We need to start winning over some of the masses of sheeple bit by bit if we want the LP to amount to anything. Root can do it.

He is also a winner. His track record in life is proof of this. A self made millionaire in an industry facing rediculous regulation Root has a unique ability to identify with small business owners and earn their respect. Root also has access to the mainstream media having already appeared on a variety of mainstream media political talk shows. He is already well respected among many Republicans that the LP will be trying to win over. You can check out more about Root at www.rootforamerica.com . Time is short. If we are going to help the LP finally achieve major party status this election we need to rally behind a candidate. With any luck Ron Paul will endorse Root. With Root working hard to win over new voters and Paul's endorsement, the Libertarian Party achieving major party status could be a reality this time.

I agree. They might call

I agree. They might call themselves Libertarians but they are by no means a true Libertarians. Gravel holds very few Libertarian fundamentals like ending the war on drugs and ending the war in Iraq. I don't think they understand the Libertarian idea of a small decentralized government thats sole purpose is to preserve Americans liberties and coin the currency and that's about it.

When one of them adopts the Libertarian platform then they might get my vote but then they'd be a flipflopper and we know that flipfloppers cater to their audience.
