This site is sponsering the third party debate, with Trevor Lydman, the debate will feature McKinney, Barr, Nader, Baldwin and (if they decide to show up, which they won't) Obama and McCain.

The problem is that this debate is also exclusive in nature, all debates are.

According to the site Politics1 (http://www.politics1.com/p2008.htm) there are 11 "third party" tickets, 8 independent canidates on at least one ballot and 62 write in canidtates. Yet the debate only includes 4 of the 11 "third party" tickets. Noteable from those NOT included in your debate are the Socialst Workers Party, the Socialist Party, and the Party of Socialism and Liberation, each who have made it onto a number of ballots across the country.

Don't get me wrong, I could care less whether or not these people are included in the debate, however there is a deeper issue here. It seems to me that these canidates are being excluded from the debate, because they don't fit a certain criteria. The same way that McKinney, Barr, Nader, and Baldwin, are excluded because they don't fit somebodies criteria. Right now, I feel all four of these people are fantastic hypocrits, and I'm really pissed off about it. Am I wrong? If not, should we not open up this debate to any person running for president who can get there?

Exclusivity

I asked the folks at ThirdPartyTicket.com about this a couple of weeks ago. What they said is that the candidates who have been invited are on the ballot in enough states to have a mathematical chance of winning.

Electoral Votes

Those four third party candidates are the only four that have registered in enough states to theoretically win enough electoral votes to win the election. There are numerous states where other third party candidates won't have votes for them counted because they for some reason weren't able to register as a write-in (or get on the ballot). Therefore they can't win electoral votes for those states.
