Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal about prisoners using mackerel as currency. They have a sound, commodity currency that retains its value, while we have Federal Reserve Notes. Go figure.

one marijuana cigarette probably goes for 20 "macks" and about 40 U.S. dollars in most jails and prisons in the U.S.. That's what I call the "Humboldt Gold" standard.

While funny, your post raises a more serious question. How much of a failure is the War on (some) Drugs when you can buy 'drugs' IN PRISON!

I couldnt find the link, but i was reading a story last week about an investigation of a prison (I think here in IL?) where an inmate filmed a video of himself snorting cocaine and then making a porno movie!

And here i was all this time trying to keep people OUT of prison.
