People over Profit!

One of my core principles is "People over Profit." One of the issues that I have discovered in politics in the United States is the amount of politicians who break from their core principles in order to support the party line or something other then their principles. No matter how far off base from their principles a vote may be, they still vote for it! Why is that?

Now I see this "Special Interest over Principles" as a big indicator of whom politicians truly represent. In theory our elected officials should only vote to protect our personal rights, property, and freedoms. That is if we lived in the United States that our founders had envisioned. But what is happening today, is that we have international corporations running the show. The primary interest of any corporations is profit. Now profit can only come from one source, which is the people. So property from people, either money or assets, has to be transferred somehow to these corporate interests in order for them to be successful. So one of the best ways for corporations to do that is court the federal government and try to gain legislative advantages and regulations that favor their industry.

So since the Representatives in Congress are suppose to be representatives of the people, these corporations see that they are actually courting the people, from which they must acquire "profits" to be successful. And so begins the corruption in our system! Lobbyists are everywhere in Washington, trying to get favors and business from the "people." They give funds and trips to politicians in order to "sway" their ideals and "convince" them that the people they represent need the services of their industry. So the nature of the entire lobbying process is to acquire money, assets, and property from the people. This can either happen by getting direct funding from tax money or by creating laws and regulations that force a choice on the American people.

The first option they use is pretty obvious when it happens in the forms of subsidies to certain industries. Most of the time this method destroys any free market in that industry. The second option they use is more illusive to the American people. Using the federal government, corporations create laws and regulations that limit the choices or freedoms of the Americans and even people around the world. People are not even aware over time that they even had any other choices before these regulation were enacted. It is the law, so we must choose this!

The examples of this corporate option are countless, but how many of you wonder why we are forced to drink cola with corn syrup instead of real sugar? Well this is because the Sugar Lobby got federal regulations passed that controlled imports of sugar to keep help the price of sugar high. So high, that companies like Coke and Pepsi had no choice but to switch to corn syrup to keep their profits high. Thus forcing the American people to drink bland beverages. But our neighbors to the south get to experience real sugar coke, they get "The Real Thing", while we Americans have our choices limited. This is because Mexican bottlers are not forced to pay inflated sugar costs.

If this happens in an industry where the core product is currently a couple dollars for a 5-pound bag of sugar. Can you even imagine what happens in an industry where the core product is a $1 million missile? Endless War!

So, I am forced to assume that our major political parties and most of our leaders are co-opted by corporate lobbies. These lobbies just buy off the parties that have the current majority or sometime both parties to acquire Americans' money and assets to keep their profit margins high. So whom do politicians represent? Themselves, Party, Corporations, or the People. You can only tell from their actions, because what is coming out of their mouths rarely matches their actions or votes. When I am elected to Congress, I will be representing the People! I will document the activities of the lobbyists for all citizens to see. I can’t wait to see all the tricks they will pull to get their interests met.
