If you go to http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type
you can find by occupation or employer who donated to which political party or candidate.
Here are a few interesting stats about occupations in education and media.

I believe one thing that isn't take into consideration in this post is the physical locale of the donors (and their respective donation amounts). If, for example, you compare the amount of donations coming from a predominantly progressive/liberal area in an affluent setting in the Northeast (where you might see bigger donations) and the donations coming from a more conservative base in the south (where the donations might not amount to as much because it is not as affluent), it could really show a difference in your numbers.
These numbers discuss in terms of raw data, and don't reflect adjustments for cost of living - which would weigh heavily on donation amounts or the numbers of donors. Another factor is the sheer number of donors represented per party... Higher numbers of donators should equal higher amounts of donations...
In any respect, if you break the numbers down a little bit more to a per average donation amount, the perspective changes a bit anyhow:
Professor
D: $786.79
R: $827.35
Teacher
D: $595.70
R: $775.67
HS Teacher
D: $504.75
R: $386.25
Anyhow, you can break things down a little more on your own, but I think you can see where I'm going with this.
I don't have an opinion either way regarding the donations, but I do believe the education system and media conglomorates are biased in terms of politics and socialist agendas... Having sat in college classrooms in the North and the South, I have seen differences, but by and large, I would say the education system is biased... Regarding media - well... BTM exists for a reason, so I don't even think we need to go into that.
This is good stuff. I definitely would have liked to see the stats broken down into more demographics. For example, compare the number of black donors to the Democratic party this year versus the number of donors in previous elections. Northern states vs. Southern states (same professions). I know it's probably difficult to find at Huffington's site, but when presented as you have, the numbers can really show a skew that may or may not exist.
Unfortunately, the sight doesn't give most of the info you'd like to see.
Yeah, I know. It's a shame too...
I mean you no disrespect because I get what your point was in posting the info you provided... but statistics and facts & figures can be skewed any way an author wants them to be when there are so many variables that can affect them (in this case, the demographic breakdown really gives better insight and might even tell a slightly different tale).
For every study out there that directly links the consumption of Coca-Cola to patients with an elevated risk for diabetes, there's some oddball study out there that refutes it. I'm not suggesting the numbers you presented are not factual or are not truthful... just exercise caution when you start citing statistics... be prepared to factually support the info you cite. I appreciate you bring these numbers to light though, as it certainly inspires thought and that's what BTM is all about right? :)
that has nothing to do with this topic. The point isn't to prove nobody contributes money to the Republicans, only to show some data that appears to refute the idea that there is no bias in the media and education system.
the republocrats are one and the same
...people's perception of the two parties and people who support them. Obviously, evangelicals swing for the Republicans, ideological socialists for the democrats.
I found the donation trends interesting mostly because supporters of the Dems spend so much time denying that there is a bias in the media and education system.
I do however agree that regardless of what voters think they're voting for, they'll get approximately the same regardless of who holds the reins of power.
I think people that depend on the state for their pay -- teachers are a good example, tend to vote Democratic while people that view the state as an agent that taxes their profits -- successful businesses tend to vote Republican
The Dems after all are suppossed to be for the little people while the Repubs are suppossed to be pro-business
There is a notable absence here of Corporate donations, which favor
Republicans. Individuals may donate as they wish, but educational
accreditation bodies, industrial regulatory bureaucracies, large media,
chemical, manufacturing, agricultural, energy, defense, and financial
corporations, and all branches of the government are fully controlled
or owned outright by the same group of inbred families who own the
central banks of the world, and have ruled the world since ancient
Sumeria if not earlier, through finance, blackmail, extortion and murder.
We can certainly fix this matter in the next electronic election. If not
well.....

These are occupations which typically require a college degree. Education stimulates enlightenment about the world around us. Those who possess a broad education generally find that conservative mores are an impediment to a progressive society.

"In the 1994-2002 General Social Surveys (GSS), Republicans have over 6/10ths of a year more education on average than Democrats. Republicans also have a higher final mean educational degree. Further, Republicans scored better than Democrats on two word tests in the GSS—a short vocabulary test and a modified analogies test.
"If one breaks down the data by party affiliation and political orientation, the most highly educated group is conservative Republicans, who also score highest on the vocabulary and analogical reasoning tests. Liberal Democrats score only insignificantly lower than conservative Republicans.
“The least educated subgroups are moderate and conservative Democrats, who also score at the bottom (or very near the bottom) on vocabulary and analogy tests."
Of course we all know Ron Paul supporters are the smartest of all ;0)
Do I understand you correctly to be saying educators, textbook publishers, reporters, and people who make film and TV probably went to college, and time spent in college will most likely produce someone who is politically progressive, therefore educators and people in media will be overwhelmingly be progressive?
Yes, your summary of my response is correct.
