You can see them below: all questions answered so well!!! -Miss Green SALEM, Ore. - Relax it and tax it. That's the motto behind a new cannabis initiative that would allow Oregon's state-controlled liquor stores to legally sell marijuana to adults. Initiative backers said their plan would send 90 percent of the proceeds from the state's sale of marijuana to Oregon's General Fund, which could lower Oregonians' state tax burden. Smaller percentages would go to funding drug abuse education and treatment programs. The initiative would also legalize the growing of hemp, a non-drug variant of cannabis that can be used to make industrial-strength fibers and bio-fuels. Supporters claim that allowing cannabis cultivation and sales through state liquor stores would add $300 million in combined tax revenues and savings to Oregon's budget. Paul Stanford of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act said the measure would also put a dent in illegal dealing of the weed. "We want to take marijuana out of the hands of children and substance abusers, who control the market today, and put it in the hands of the state's liquor control commission and the age limit of 21 will be strictly enforced," Stanford said at a press briefing. Supporters have two years to collect nearly 83,000 signatures to get the measure on the November ballot in 2010. __________________________ Read »

are being made every single day. Getting the 80,000+ signatures should be a snap in Oregon. I really wonder what would happen if a State pulled it off - as the federal gov.t would still insist that cannabis is illegal under federal law?? Anybody have any feelings how Mr Change "obama" would handle this? I know what McCain would say. He would sound like Nancy Reagan at the height of the Just Say No campaign. And Obama's flip flopping on medical marijuana (he was for it when running for state office - ambivalent when running for Prez) doesn't endear me to him either.
I really hope the Oregonians can pull this off. The states rights battle over medical is still in high gear. The supremacy clause is being tested daily. We need something big to finally get Congress to act to reclassify cannabis and hemp. This could be it. Especially if Nevada gives it another go and is also successful. Go west coast!!
are reason to celebrate, but it looks as though the state could use some education on the subject to ensure it passes, to change the minds of those against it.

Ya think they would let me sign the petition and if they get it on the ballot, then I move there?
*snicker*
Here in South Carolina we have a MJ Tax stamp law on the books at $3.50 a gram. So in effect we could sell packs at $49 tax per and make in very conservative estimates $36million using figures from the 2000 DEA usage reports.
I've been bugging the local paper in Myrtle Beach about it any time "drugs" are brought up in the Editorial section online.

After almost being killed via chemotherapy and 2 subsequent hospitalizations for "shingles" from my naval to my spine on my left side, my doctor told me I should use marijuana for the pain. But, marinol was all he could prescribe. What a waste that was! However, the real THC takes away the pain! Thanks for 2 sisters in Florida, I am frequently supplied.
guff
yay! Good one. No reason for Marijuana or Hemp to be illegal.
My dream is to plant Hemp and give to the local paper factory for making paper instead of killing the trees. This plant is willing to give up it's self to help our planet. I know that sounds kind of funny but I got that message via many dreams over a period of 4 years.
It's been said that Hemp/marijuana has over 50 thousand uses.
Any chance Montana will follow suit?
Even money this passes in Oregon.
Yo
Our time is NOW.

Wonder what the odds are there? Mass. vote will be this November 4th. They will have the required signatures and I am hoping for the best. If Mass goes first, followed by Oregon; California and Hawaii may not be far behind. Then its just a matter of time before more states demand the right to grow hemp themselves.
Very exciting times.
Very exciting times, indeed. I'm just glad that I can be a part of it.
