CCTV is great for securing private property, and even municipal property, but CCTV randomly monitoring our streets is shameful and degrading. As a human being with God given rights I'm disgusted and offended by public surveillance, and even more so by trying to hoodwink small businesses into paying for it. Thats almost as bad as making tax payers foot the bill.
Government has solved the age old dilemma of the alchemists. In order to turn lead into gold, just add blood.
cameras installed in North Philly and other er.... less politically infuential..... neighborhoods. Very annoying.
Also, have you seen those enormous electronic billboards along the highway. In Philly they are always flashing every letter of the alphabet as part of a "test". (this has already caused many highway fatalities due to the distraction)
I saw one message on one -- it read, "homeless and or hungry citizens, please keep marching in this direction, there is free food just beyond the horizon, those who break out of single file will be tased repeatedly" But I think that was a misprint!!
The other one said, "Ron Paul sweeps presidential race -- plans to renovate White House"
