Type of Content: Article WASHINGTON (AP) — The House took up NRA-backed legislation Tuesday to eliminate most of the gun restrictions in the nation's capital, including a ban on semiautomatic weapons. The House action comes three months after the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 vote, struck down the District of Columbia's ban on handgun possession, ruling that what had been one of the nation's toughest gun control laws violated the Second Amendment right to bear arms. I wonder if those members of the congress who support that bill realize that a yes vote could put their own life in danger. The second amendment is there so the people can rise up in case the government ever becomes too tyranical. Somehow, in their eagerness to pander to the NRA lobby, they overlooked this little trouble.
