I don't know the origin of Blackwater, but I can tell you that it is illegal to have Halliburton, now situated in Bahrain, to have government contracts with the U.S. Government. There is a regulation called, "Buy American Act", which means that if any source can be obtained from within the U.S. to buy goods and services, it is mandatory to buy those goods and services from those sources. That we allowed Cheney and Halliburton to relocate to Bahrain and continued to do business with them violates our own regulations. Someone should check this out. Buying $1000 toilets is nothing compared to what they are stealing from our country!
Cheney has said that he would donate his profits in stock options....Are we going to wait until to Bush is out of office to request that he do this?
I studied in depth Government contracts; we can't act as we are doing. I am really appalled that the GAO is not monitoring our illegal Halliburton contracts. The GAO is supposed to be the "watchdog" of U.S. contracts.
Please, let us no wait until President Bush is out of office to require Dick Cheney to donate his stock options. That would be a travesty. He said that he would do it. He hasn't yet!
