Type of Content: Video This isn't a subject that skeptics usually tackle, but maybe that should change. The War on Drugs, and the claims made in its support, is every bit as bogus as creationism and the moon landing hoax.

in which he tells us that when it came to alcohol prohibition; at least the Congress and everyone else at the time had the good sense to pass a constitutional amendment knowing that the federal government was not granted the authority in Art I Sec 8 to ban the use of intoxicating liquors. If they didn't have the authority then they don't have the authority now - as nothing significant by way of revision to the Constitution has happened between now and then to change this fact.
We should also note the lesson that prohibition provided us with respect to organized crime, violence, turf wars, and illegal profits generated by the underground black market in things that have a very high popular demand. The drug war - just like alcohol prohibition before it- was lost before it ever began. Spending billions and imprisoning millions - while propping up a multi-billion dollar black market- is probably the worst possible way to handle the subject. And we are seeing the results of this failed policy every single day.
Any politican who promises to finally put an end to the 'scourge of drug dealing and drug abuse' in your community is a bald faced liar. Or is simply counting on you being stupid enough to believe him/her.
Are we supposed to believe that the government is concerned with whether or not the war on drugs is working? Actually, it is working for them. They have been able to convince people that some rights need be given up, the hands of the police need to be "untied" , people need to be locked away forever, etc., all in the name of having a drug free society.
Did anyone else feel their blood pressure going up as they watched this video?
Well over 40 years ago, while I was going to school and doing part time janitorial work at a Kansas City junior high school, I solved many of the world's problems as I was sweeping and mopping the floor of the school's cafeteria. One of the thing I figured out was that the usage of additive drugs would never be ended by law enforcement. My solution was to end drug law enforcement and set up a program that would give drugs to people who were currently addicts. This was a good 12 years or so before I learned about libertarianism. Now I say get the government out of the drug issue completely. Private companies and volunteer organizations will have a much better chance of achieving whatever success is possible with the issue.
Solving the drug "problem" is not my main concern anyway, freedom is.

great video, thanks for thinking and acting on it.
