Why is there no money? Not because too many people filed for earned benefits. It is because the money in the Social Security Trust Fund was used to finance handouts to the Welfare Generation from 1964 to 1994. In 30 years the Democrats, who used generational welfare to chain minorities to the feeding trough of the State and to the voting booth where they were forced to vote Democratic to keep their welfare checks coming, stole your retirement funds and replaced them with worthless IOUs........
I'm only 33 and have to pay into this charade .. Somebody has to answer to us!!

Social Security Reality

The only way to break the cycle of socialism is for one or two generations to take a stand and not accept the benefits, even though they paid into them for the generation before. Then, when the programs shrink away to zero, we can eliminate the income tax for our children and grandchildren. I've made a pledge not to accept Social Security, Medicare, or any other entitlement benefit, even though I've paid into the programs at maximum rates for over 20 years, and will likely be forced to do so for another 20. Who's with me?

It's a nice pledge

and a good idea

but it isn't really relevant until you're at the age when you're eligible to collect benefits

What if you're poor then or struck by a calamity and need the money?

The only way to keep your

The only way to keep your money safe from the crooks in government is to not give it to them in the first place.

One of the most damnable things about the social security system is that it makes each generation dependent on the next. That makes impossible to end it without hurting the generation that is currently collecting. Their SS payments were spent long before they retired and now there is no way to pay them except to apply heavy taxes on the next generation.

As Oliver Hardy would say; "Another fine mess."

The only cure for this problem....

(and I'm 44, so I understand the need for it) is to follow Ron Paul's advice, and privatize the system, pay what we promised, but give younger workers the choice of using the system or opting out. BTW- If we had stuck to the original intent of the Founders, the caring for the elderly, poor and others would still be carrried out, but by their families, friends, faith communities,and charities. (and they would do it much more efficiently, with compassion and concern, than the government agencies would) Ron Paul mentions the difference in The Revolution, A Manifesto, in chapter 4,pg.76-77

Don't Forget Bob Dole

He was the one who massively raised SS taxes in the 1980s without a provision that would preserve the funds for retirement purposes. Congress and all presidents have been looting the money ever since-- which is why we're at this point today. Dole, btw, views his SS reform work as his proudest achievement in government. Bob Dole-- "tax collector for the welfare state." R

Social Security?

I'm in line in less that a year to recieve my benefits. I'm certainly
not going to wait untill I'm 65. Unless something changes drastically
in the next year I feel sorry for those young ones.

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original 13 states adopted their new
constitution, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the
majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. >From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. >From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. >From courage to liberty;
4. >From liberty to abundance;
5. >From abundance to complacency;
6. >From complacency to apathy;
7. >From apathy to dependence;
8. >From dependence back into bondage ."
Professor Joseph Olson

We have been a Nation for 232 years.

God Bless this Nation

History of Social Security

and the Democratic Jerks!!

Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.
He promised
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400
of their annual incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program
would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust
Fund" rather than into the General operating fund,
and therefore would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as
income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a
Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting
taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following

--------------------

QUESTIONS
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent
"Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and
Senate.

--------------------

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social
Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.

--------------------
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking"
deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

-------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to
immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants
moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security
payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the
original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the
Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be
planted and maybe good changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.
