I wonder if he'd do it for Obama or McSane? I don't know if an honest, principled person can do the job in a corrupt administration (see Paul O'Neill). I don't know if he'd agree. Does anyone know offhand what he might be able to do with the Fed if he ever got the post? The Fed answers to Congress (in theory), but Bernanke always tries to lay the dollar at the Treasury Secretary's doorstep. Any of the attorneys onsite have insight into this?
