There are a lot of organizations out there that offer poetry contests, they make their money off of the poet by convincing them to buy one of their books with their poem in it. If these people were well intentioned poetry lovers, I could tolerate this, but when you go to submit the poem you are restricted to the amount of lines, in this instance, 24. Wait a minute, rules and poetry just don't go together. Poetry comes from the heart where there are no rules. So you pore your heart onto a piece of paper and hope it isn't more than 24 lines, and if it is, you won't be able to enter it into the contest, and you know, that sucks. It's all about money. If you limit the lines you can fit in more poems, and the more poems you can fit into the book the more books you will sell, to each of the poets who wrote them. You'll never find that book in a library or a book store, it's a scam. So I wrote my poem about 24 lines and sent it to them, published it to my blog that I share with you here.
