If someone was unfamiliar with the Ron Paul

movement and tuned in to Red Eye they would've walked away with the understanding that
it's a laughable movement of fringe types that consists of holocaust deniers and smelly guys who can't get a date --- and that even Ron Paul is frightened of them....

But that seems to be the current standard of "ridicule" now that the movement can no longer be ignored.....

I love Paul in his recent press conference when he claims to represent the "majority" I agree with him

random thoughts

1. i worked with a producer and an editor, but i made all the choices, wrote the voiceover stuff, etc. so if you didn't like the piece, you should blame me and only me.

2. if you were looking for a serious "journalistic" piece, you've never seen red eye. (which makes you like most people!) if you don't think it was good, or funny, then that's cool: but to expect it to be something it was never intended to be is kinda silly, no?

3. i don't at all understand why anyone would think i made kurt or btm look bad. i certainly didn't intend to, and i'm fairly certain i didn't.

4. you can't associate yourself with holocaust-denying conspiracy theorists and then complain when someone shows that you do. you lie down with dogs (or put them in a pouch around your stomach), you get fleas.

5. you can say "fuck fox news" all you want, but at some point the more rational among you should take a look at how many libertarian voices fox puts on the air, particularly compared to the other news nets. hell, red eye is possibly the single most libertarian show on television, in both content and - more importantly i think - in spirit.

6. the idea that this piece is in any way part of some master plan by the MSM is among the most hysterical things i've ever heard in my life! i mean, really?? i'm on a show that's on at 3am eastern that makes fun of republicans, democrats and everyone else, that has openly argued for legalizing drugs and ridiculed the so-called war on drugs, that talks openly about pornography, and that above all else doesn't take ITSELF seriously. if we're part of a master plan, it's a really, really bad plan!

the bottom line is that of COURSE the majority of the people at the rally weren't holocaust-denying freaks or guys dressed as if they're in "v for vendetta." and, quite frankly, neither were the majority of the people i showed in the piece. now, had i been doing a SERIOUS story i obviously would've done it differently, and maybe i would've filled it with people talking about abolishing the federal reserve and returning to the gold standard. but alas, such is not my lot in life.

none of this should be taken as a defense of my piece - as i said, if you didn't think it was good, or funny, then that's your right as a free-thinking individual. (this isn't russia - is this russia?) personally, i don't think it was a "hit piece," but reasonable people can disagree.

and now, i'm off to find a short pier - but i warn you that i never leave the house without my pink floaty, so i'll probably be okay!

love,
andy

Bravo on manning up. It

Bravo on manning up.

It probably would have been a lot easier to just say "fk them" and close the window.

I never have seen your show, my cable provider out here in no mans land doesn't carry Faux News. Not that I've ever minded.

I think we're pretty used to getting mocked, when not ignored by media, Fox and the rest of the jackal dens. Hell, despite the way some on the flashing box paint our movement, we even get tons of sht on the internet. I don't expect favorable reports and reviews, but I cream, in my jeans when I find that rare gem that is unbiased. Having heard good things about you, and not knowing the nature of your show, that is exactly what I was expecting. So I was quite disappointed to see another shill putting it on with one hand and taking it off with another. As I first understood it, that is. Frankly, knowing that your show is satirical in nature i feel quite silly for taking such offense. Also because the only people watching Fox News at 3am are farmers and "fringe" idealists like that Holocaust Denier.

This may very well be Russia before too long Andy. Your coworkers keep cheering the fascists from the bench, and provoking the socialists. I'm eager to see where that will take us.

I'm glad you saw fit to clear the air. Maybe there is hope for you yet. lol

Well

I'm going for a walk off the short pier, too, because I found that to be a complete waste of my time. Such a hit piece, designed solely to make us look bad and to piss us off!

Actually, I found it rather humorous and the only glimpse I had into any kind of backstage activity.

Let's be honest, just about any kind of BTM plug is good news.

SHELLY: so, how do I delete a comment? The duplicate was a mistake... obviously.

Andy Levy can take a long walk....

off a short pier. I've seen better journalism in a jr. high school newspaper. F Andy and more than that, F his editors and his producer. Thanks but no thanks for the BTM plug a*hole.

To Paraphrase Gandi

First they ignore you , then they ridicule you, then you win..... then they assassinate you

Well it looks like the Ron Paul movement has moved into stage 2 -- Fox can no longer ignore us so they're beginning to ridicule ---

So I guess all press is good press even if it's an attempt to make Ron Paul supporters look like anti-semetic losers who can't score a date .... I guess?

It felt like a hit piece to me, too

Never take yourself too seriously, but this was the only exposure to the Rally for a lot of people. To this day, Ron Paul's name has still not been mentioned in the newspaper in in Buffalo, NY, as far as anyone I know there can remember. We should certainly be open to good natured fun, but since this was the ONLY Fox coverage, it seems like they wanted the message to be "they're just a bunch of losers."

A wise friend advised

To consider the fact that Levy was only the onscreen talent for this piece. I believe his role in the show is usually satirical humor, although I've only seen it once. We should at least consider that it was edited by other people into a hit piece, rather than done that way intentionally by him. It doesn't make much sense that he would wear the t shirt and then slam BTM. He could have just slammed BTM. Anyway..... who hoo, we're on TV! :)

I agree

I was at the rally. Yes, you could find some 9-11 truthers and some other so-called "fringe" people there, but the overwhelming majority at this event were everyday hard working Americans who long for freedom.

I get so sick of people globbing onto something deemed "sensational" rather than all the other matters of substance that were going on. I have made this point elsewhere, but it bears repeating. The topic of 9-11 consumed approximately 2-3 minutes of 10 hrs of speeches. What do all the reporters focus on? Jesse Ventura talking about 9-11. As if everyone in the crowd were 9-11 truth activists.

Dont get me wrong, I dont have a problem with 9-11 truthers doing their thing. But to equate the campaign for liberty as being equal to or the same as the 9-11 truth movement is a glaringly false & fraudulent mischaracterization of the entire event.

By making fun of the Ron Paul movement, they are making fun of all of us. I for one dont find it very funny nor do i see how it helps us (even if it gives exposure to this website). If people are coming here to see a circus show rather than being interested in the message of liberty, why do we want them coming??

Charge them an admittance fee if they want to see clowns & freaks!

A few things. An

A few things.
An Observation.
These MSM hacks flock together, and are quite possibly birds of a feather.

A Comment.
WTF did Jesse Ventura look like a mad hobo who slept on a park bench covered in news papers rather than a man who is considering a Presidential bid in 4 years?? If he can't put on a fking tie for a national, historical event, if he doesn't take this business that seriously, then wtf should I take him seriously. Maybe he should have come out in spandex with a cape and some sort of flashy hat, with a novelty belt swung over his shoulder. Maybe that would have been a better way to mock our efforts. I'm "down" with the nonconformist "tip" but I'm also not a friggin retard. if you wanna do anything in this world and be taken seriously, you gotta put on the inverted noose. Jesse knows that. And I know we don't care, but through the lens of the MSM camera, he looks like a disheveled homeless person walking causing a ruckus in the convention centers, certainly not a leader in the new Era of American Politics. Mr. Ventura, but on a fking suit, your making us all look bad! We need a chip in to pay some one to dress him up before he comes out in public for fks sake!

He gave a phenomenal speech, and I've been biting my tongue, but I cannot continue. Thank you for bearing with me.

A Thought.
I think the MSM is hedging their bets. They recognize our power, and the fragility of cable news and print in the age of internet. They are willing to give us enough press so that we should not destroy them at the first convenience, but not so much as to bite the hand that feeds them their disinformation. I think for the most part, maybe in their entirety, these MSM talking heads are a bunch of jackals. Like the footsoldiers terrorizing the people on the street, they justify their crimes against the American people with the cashing of their pay check.

A Conclusion
Still I think any publicity is good publicity. Maybe the ultimatum was either poke fun at them or report nothing at all.
Government has solved the age old dilemma of the alchemists. In order to turn lead into gold, just add blood.

Why such snarkiness?

I saw Mr Levy hanging out with BTM peeps at the Steve Dore concert. Even spoke to him very briefly. He seemed reasonable enough then. However, this vid is very snarkish.

Ya, its great that he let kurt wallace plug breakthematrix - but - the rest of it seemed like a hit piece. So either Mr Levy was just doing his "job" for Fox but still was being cool to BTM by getting the plug for the website in, or he is just a giant douche who works for fox who had plans on making fun of the event the whole time.

I'll reserve judgment as I dont know which scenario is true. I can guaruntee that if they interviewed the delegates and others on matters of susbtance; they could have played excerps of that instead of holocaust denial, Jesse Ventura and 9/11, etc... I guess the "editors" had a choice to make. And they toed the propaganda line.

I am so glad i spent 45 seconds during the anti-war march to shout F*** Fox News!! as we passed below their cameras near the X-cel center. Hey Mr Levy, feel free to quote the above phrase in your next comedy routine.

Why does this guy wear BTM gear and what not and then go out of his way to make fun of Ron Paul supporters? Is it supposed to be a joke? I dont watch fox news programming so I dont know his role on that show.

I Have To Hand It To Fox

They sure know how to expend the necessary asset, editing techniques, and commentary to provide effective marginalization of the event. Of course this is pleasing to the "brainwashed" Fox viewers along with the agenda of the power brokers.
