I found this in the BTM forums, but thought I'd add it here so more people could lay eyes on it. Enjoy, it's worth the watch. Perhaps more established politicians will begin to speak truth now. Watch, rate, and enjoy! He's a contender for V.P, but I've heard he lost his chance with a botched interview - anyone know where to find that?

I'm wondering if maybe this is that video to which you are referring.

Mark Sanford

I live in SC, and though I don't always see eye to eye with Sanford's ideas, I will say that his governorship is not very popular amongst those to the far left or to the far right - so he must be doing something right. (Plus, he managed to retain his governorship for a second term). Unfortunately, SC is a "Good 'Ol Boy" state that still thinks Strom Thurmond and Fritz Hollings are in the senate...

Sanford's biggest problem is that a lot of his decision are viewed as "kooky" because he is very thorough in confirming constitutionality of laws before he acts on them or he displays indecisiveness - leading some to believe he is inept. He has also taken some questionable positions that weaken his perceived leadership skills - such as his recent decision not to act on a law that allows a Christian-biased "I Believe" license plate when it came across his desk - thus allowing it to automatically become law.

In most cases, I don't blame Sanford. Afterall, we're talking about a state that up until about a year ago, tattoos were illegal to get in the state; and two years ago, free-pour was not allowed in bars and restaurants. We're a little behind the times down here. For the most part, he stands on his principles firmly though - and he's taking a beating as the governor for it.

Principle Above Parties

both parties deserve relegation to the dustbin of history

The best concept I grasped from this presentation is that loyalty to "principle" lords over loyalty to "persons or parties" at all costs.

For whatever reason, the current crop of Republicans have sold their souls to the new (neo) principles of the Bush/Cheney gang (i.e. the Neo-Conservatives.) In other words, they have switched from their standard principles, to the "new" principles.

Sadly, this hasn't been a simple "stumbling" over what you believe in, but about as much as a deliberate 180 degree turn as can be imagined. It's as if you sat in the pew next Sunday and heard your preacher inform you that Satan himself is to be "respected" now, not reviled.

Unfortunately, this almost unbelievable metamorphosis of the Republican party has stigmatized it as surely as Hitler did the NSDAP of his day.

It is only when Ron Paul and his liberty loving Americans (as well as Kucinich and his Constitution following disciples) reject the confines of party, and unite with the Jesse Venturas and Cindy Sheehans of the world in a spirit of principle, that real change and revolution will take hold in our nation once again.
