How did we get so far away from this? The Contract with America was written 24 years ago, but is still pertinent today.

What is even sadder....

I don't know what is sadder... The fact that they wrote this contract 24 years ago or the fact that they felt compelled to write this contract 24 years ago when most, if not all of this wouldn't even need to be address had they chosen to honor the original contract the government set forth for the people of the United States of America 221 years ago.

The currency of media politics are "words" not "actions"

Just like the paper fiat currency that we use in our monetary system, the media has pushed politicians careers based on their "words of the moment", rather than their past "record of actions" (voting record).

This is why John McCain can excel in the polls/votes even though his voting record is dismal. An example is his immigration stance. The fact that he was a co-sponsor of the "Amnesty Bill" is minimized by the media because he now says that he will be "tougher on immigration".

If actions were the currency of media politics, then Ron Paul would be the Republican nominee.
