Type of Content: Article If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 59% of voters would like to throw them all out and start over again. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 17% would vote to keep the current legislators in office. Only half (49%) believe that the current Congress is better than individuals selected at random from the phone book. A separate survey found that just 11% of voters say Congress is doing a good or an excellent job. Despite these reviews, more than 90% of Congress is likely to be elected this November. While unhappiness with Congress cuts across partisan and demographic lines, Democrats are a bit less unhappy than other voters. Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans would vote to throw out the entire Congress as would 62% of unaffiliated voters. Only 43% of Democrats go along. When the Constitution was written, the nation’s founders expected that there would be a 50% turnover in the House of Representatives every election cycle. That was the experience they witnessed in state legislatures at the time (and most of the state legislatures offered just one-year terms). For well over 100 years after the Constitution was adopted, the turnover averaged in the 50% range as expected. In the twentieth century, turnover began to decline. As power and prestige flowed to Washington during the New Deal era, fewer and fewer Members of Congress wanted to leave. In 1968, Congressional turnover fell to single digits for the first time ever and it has remained very low ever since. sharpsteve: This is our chance! LoL
59% would replace the entire Congress, and 41% think we should just keep Ron Paul.

The problem is that we have been tricked into believing that there are only 2 choices. (democrats and republicans) If everyone voted according to whether or not their representative was doing their will. You would see things change very quickly. Almost all of congress seems all to willing to give this country away to illegal invaders and big business. Look for an attempt at an north american union before long. Why do you think they aren't stopping the illegals crossing the border?
That is one of the many reasons I'm voting for Ron Paul's endorsed candidate Chuck Baldwin this election. I'm sick of voting for the candidate that sucks the least. BALDWIN08.COM

Old saying; "Throwing out the baby with the bath water."
If we really threw them all out that would mean dumping Ron Paul too. I wouldn't want to do that. Some of our congresscritters aren't too bad. Throwing them out would mean replacing them with someone who is bad.
For example; my congresswoman is Candice Miller. There are some good things about her. She is solidly pro-gun and is A-rated by both the NRA and Gun Owners of America. Secondly she voted against the bailout. If I vote her out I will get a Democrat rated D by the NRA, whose position on bailouts is unknown. Is that an improvement? I think not. Also, in my opinion Obama will be the next president. The best hope for keeping government from going too far off the deep end is a congress controlled by the opposite party, in this case the Republicans. That way the legislative and executive branches spend all their time fighting each other rather than passing harmful legislation.
My Senator is Carl Levin. He is extremely anti-gun and he voted for the bailout. So I have good reason for wanting to throw him out. And shifting the balance in the senate towards the Republicans would help to offset Obama in the white house.
Now if I could truly throw them all out I'd do it, even if it meant throwing out the good ones along with the bad. But that isn't going to happen so I think we need to be more judicious in our selection of bums to be thrown out.
I would suggest reading the plans of both FireCongress.org and Voterbomb.com.
If we really had the power to be 100% successful in voting them all out, I doubt that we would be needing to vote them all out in the first place. If we had that power they would be listening to us now.
If Congress has a 9% approval then only 9% or LESS should stay.
