Bernard Goldberg, author of "Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right" among other bestsellers, called this piece of writing the 3rd greatest piece ever written in the English language, behind the Magna Carta and Hamlet.

It's from fellow Libertarian Neal Boortz, and a "protest" commencement speech he wrote because he had NEVER been asked to deliver one. Well, this commencement speech should be made available to every student in high school every year they are there. Then when college rolls around, another reminder. After they graduate, let them read it again. I can't stress enough how awesome his pseudo speech is.

Now read it an enjoy!!

I agree with most of it ...

Although he may exaggerate in a few spots. I do disagree with the points about the homeless. Some of them are mentally ill and incapable of taking care of themselves. There are also some people out there who made all the right choices but through no fault of their own, were a victim of terribly bad luck (i.e. maimed by a random accident, rare disease, crime, etc. to a point where they can no longer take care of themselves, and that cannot be insured against) completely outside of their control.

We are all one

This is unfortunate. Yes, you can work their life away to make yourself incredibly, or even modestly rich. Good for you, I wish you lots of luck. Maybe I'll be rich one day, too.

But if you can't look at the person sitting on that hot air vent reeking of booze and realize that they are part of you, then you are lost. Have fun driving home in the dark, the supposed "winner." The rest of us will take care of our brothers and sisters.

By the way, I'm a disabled vet. Thanks for the free handout. I'll take my health back instead, thanks.

can't fault a former

can't fault a former military man for whole heartedly believing hes just another brick in the wall. Screw physical therapy, we need to develop a regiment that reminds Veterans that they are individuals with their own wants and needs, and thoughts and feelings, and that individuality is a beautiful thing.

For whatever reason, divine or mundane, we are 6 billion individuals, and not an amorphous blob made up of 6 billion parts.

One would think if you learned one thing from your "sacrifice" was to identify and avoid bullsht rhetoric like the plague.

Government has solved the age old dilemma of the alchemists. In order to turn lead into gold, just add blood.

government vs. private sector

the role of the government isn't to do that.

I have all the faith in the world in the private sector, which already does a better job of taking care of the disabled, mentally challenged, and those under the poverty line better than government ever could. The efficiency of private charitable organizations to take finances and put all of it to its INTENDED use is double what the government could do with the same amount of money.

I believe in my heart that the good of people can solve any and all of those problems in the private sector, and there is absolutely no need for our government to get involved.

Thank you very much for your service to this country!
