Probably the longest letter I've written to any "Representative" thus far.

Dear Rep. Baldwin,

I write to you to urge you to support H.R. 1207. This bill is the "Audit the Fed" bill that has been gaining steam as of late.

It was introduced by Representative Ron Paul, of Texas. Quite simply, this is an action long overdue. They are no more federal than Federal Express and have enjoyed their CIA levels of secrecy for far too long.

For some time now I have observed how they are treated and almost revered as the economic "geniuses" who are the only ones who can get us out of a recession. Quite simply, this is nothing short of stupid.

The Federal Reserve created the bubble that lead to the economic collapse that we are experiencing right now. What's even worse is the government's response to it all by trying to blow the bubble back up as fast as possible with foolish decisions and horrible lawmaking that is going to have harsh repercussions on future generations for a long time. I could rant about that for a entire book but I am cutting this rabbit trail short.

The Federal Reserve, meddling in the housing market, combined with bad decisions by large U.S. companies, and with the insanity of Fannie and Freddie, have put us where we are right now. President Bush was also to blame for some of his decisions. This was not a case of lasseiz-faire capitalist free markets but government intervention.

The Fed hasn't helped anything at all and has the most massive accounting problems on the planet. Actions by Tim Geithner haven't shown anyone that he is interested in accountability for the Federal Reserve.

You know, I hear ridiculous comments by Congress in the media about earmarks, but frankly we need more! We need to know where our money is going! The Federal Reserve has the transparency of a lump of coal. They constantly "lose our money" and resist every attempt to be more transparent.

These aren't the economic wizards of our time- they are kids with a chemistry set and are going to blow us up with their idiocy! It is HIGH TIME we knew just what they were doing with our cash.

This is just the first step, though. We need to know what's going on so they don't ram us directly into the iceberg that's going to sink America into Weimar Republic-style eras of hyperinflation.
