Drilling for oil and then having to pipe it is a BAD risk. This is the dirty little secret many of you don't really think about.

If I had an air driven car, I could be pollution and oil free immediately, as I could run off my solar panels and my creek in the winter time...
As a mechanical engineer my educated guess is that you cannot get nearly as much energy from compressed air as you can get from a comparable volume of gasoline. It is certainly possible to build a vehicle that can run on compressed air but the 1000 mile claim is dubious.
Well, methinks better engineers than you are alive and kicking in the world. Nobody claimed you can get an equal amount of energy from a comparable volume of air. You CAN, however, heat up already highly compressed air and get a vehicle that has ZERO emissions and a reasonable range.
Imagine compressing your own air via a running creek or solar while you are away at work...
You can test drive the car in 2010 and prove the claims wrong.
I am, however, getting in line to own one.
