this was bound to happen at some point.
once this becomes common place, i won't be surprised to see more and more sites switching exclusively to HTTPS and advertising that fact as an incentive for users to visit theirs and not the others.
seeing some technical papers as to how this system operates would be nice too. i wonder how HTTP proxies would be handled.
Would you mind clarifying what an HTTP is --- for the layman
Also,
I seem to remember getting chewed out by you about how harmless internet tracking was --- and how no one should be concerned about simple marketing techniques
Have you changed your mind?
it's the protocol that's used for the world wide web. that's why a web page link usually begins with 'http://'. the secure version of that is https, which is http tunnelled over a secure layer. i think that when these measures are widely employed, it may give sites more incentive to set that up. i'm thinking here of major sites like google, since that would probably be the primary source of information gathering.
i don't remember any chewing about how harmless internet tracking is. maybe you're referring to that google discussion. there is nothing wrong with a site you're visiting collecting information about what you view. but once the sniffer is put on the connection itself, that's a bit different. nothing i like about that. but even then, i can think of a few techniques to circumvent that. opportunities for new services maybe... who knows.
They can watch me coming to this site and to others like it and see that I am serious about throwing them off of my back.
Trevor or Rick,
Far be it for any of us to dictate the policies of BTM, but I think it is definitely a viable thing to question...
Does this, in any way, affect the relationship BTM has with Charter to carry it? I mean, this kind of business model could potentially have very dire ramifications - not only for Charter Communications, but also for the message of freedom BTm represents.
It's kind of hard to convince someone you are trying to free their mind from MSM droll on a show that is being broadcast on a cable network that perpetuates an infringement on personal privacy.
Would either of you care to address this concern?
http = Hyper text transfer protocol...... as opposed to ftp which = File transfer protocol.
I don't worry about nuthin.....
Unless it jumps right out in front of me......
Then I don't worry about it......
Unless it tries to bite me.......
Then I don't worry about it......
I just kill it!
No worries!
