He's simply fear mongering. The neocons can use the next "event" to further remove our freedoms. They're still patting each other on the back for the Patriot Act. I would think a big ego like his can't help but take credit for the ongoing plan to destroy the foundations of freedom in America... but of course he can't say that outright, so he articulated it as a warning and acting like he was concerned. When you have people like Pat Robertson speaking out against global warming, you've got to wonder... The neocons now hope global warming is true because it will provide them with more opportunities like New Orleans to further consolidate things like FEMA under Homeland Security and use an anxious public/congress to further their agenda...

This guy is warning of being afraid of giving up civil liberties??? This is the same guy who gave a speech in New Hampshire just a short time ago about how we need to give up freedom of speech on the internet in order to fight terror.

Oh I get it, it's time for damage control. That little speech didn't work out so well did it Newt?! Sheesh.
