I have to disagree here

The shareholders of You Tube have Property Rights and "free speech" does not apply. Yes, media outlets are privately owned - that has ALWAYS been the case and is actually one of the main purposes behind the 1st Amendment. If you are unhappy with the coverage, or in this case with You Tube's decisions about THEIR service, you can boycott it or decide to compete with it. BTM represents an effort to compete with the media outlets we don't like. However, we must be careful not to replace one tyrrany with another by trying to enforce our will over how someone else runs their own business.

Ron Paul recognzied this when he was excluded from one of the early primaries. Jay Leno had him on the show and asked if Ron went down and demanded that he be included. Ron calmly and politely schooled Leno by saying, "No, I recognized that they had property rights there, so I didn't do that."

Believe me, this message is going to catch on fire, and BTM is going to compete with the media. Soon, the You Tube's of the world will be coming to us. Let's not compromise our principles to get there any other way.

Agreed

You are pointing out what I am pointing out, except from polarized positions. Both are correct, however, the latest trend is towards using this loophole to restrict speech by monopolization.

Even the US Government is forced to acknowledge this growing problem: http://www.america.gov/st/washfile-english/2007/May/20070504120729atiayd...

Quote from the Article:

"Free thought, particularly expressed on the Internet is becoming more and more dangerous," says Bridget Johnson, Los Angeles Daily News columnist and blogger. "The Committee to Protect Journalists has been tracking the detention of Internet writers since 1997 and the 2006 figure is the highest the group has ever recorded. Now, one in three jailed journalists is a blogger, online editor, or Web-based reporter." According to CPJ, 134 journalists were jailed in 2006; of that number, 49 worked on the Internet.

One of the great opportunities for spreading freedom of expression is the Internet, Krilla said. "The Internet holds enormous promise particularly for the developing world and efforts to blunt the Internet's transformational power need to be countered by governments, NGOs, and by citizens worldwide."

"It is high time we set aside the blogger-versus-journalist polemic and acknowledge that they are there fighting side-by-side in many countries to defend freedom of expression," she said.

"In legal terms, a media professional is not entitled to better protection than a blogger,"

"Freedom of expression, at least in theory, is something everyone is entitled to regardless of their status. Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights underscores this basic principle."

Now Tom, lets get honest, in todays world we need more of what we are being helf from, which is freedom and liberty.

I believe it was Adams in the Federalist Papers who spoke of the American people needing to hear information, even if that information was 'unpleasant' or 'unpalatable'.

This stance of unpleasantness and unplatableness is what the American people have been hiding from all the time, because it is unpleasant, and frankly embarrassing to so many that we all have been duped like we have, and for so long.

Im not really worried about individual sectors in a free and open society, but that is not where we live today, and the little people are being forced into the mold by the networks, including BTM.

They are facing the same rules now, and regulations that they are passing of to the public.

Its all play by the rules, or your domain, page, profile, etc gets yanked.

Its been taking place for some time now, but they had to wait first for the people to give up their rights. http://www.savetheinternet.com/=threat

Id say about 2 more years at the most.

What is disturbing is that it is not perceived as a threat, but as a safety net for bad guys.

If you read nothing else, please read this article: http://epic.org/free_speech/intl/hrw_report_5_96.html

Maybe you know see why all other rules are off in this matter now, and they are attacking the First at the heart for the entire Earth. It will set our intellectual development as Humans back to the Stone Age, as they will have full control of what even enters our minds, if taken to the limit. Which by the current actions, I would say is not to far fetched, I true 1984 scenario. Remember "something big is coming".

So big, that just for saying that phrase, a proverbial "shot across the bow" was fired at his plane.

Lets take a look at some other countries

Here is the link to see what other countries are doing to Free Speech Journalist; which is what I am, people like me just use blogs instead of newspapers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship#United_States_of_Americ...

We have Human Rights, like you, that give us the Right to bring information to the people. In the US it should be freedom of the press.

If there where other cyber pathways to take, then that would be fine. But you see, they are ones that are taking the existing highways away from us. They are walking into the internet, and putting the muzzles on, not us going into their house and making them listen to us.

The more this takes place, the more people will start NOT to back down, and FORCE our rights into existence. Lets not demonize the word Force either.

Some of the meanings of the word force are:

a powerful effect or influence

impel: urge or force (a person) to an action; constrain or motivate

wedge: squeeze like a wedge into a tight space

power: one possessing or exercising power or influence or authority

force into or from an action or state, either physically or metaphorically

a group of people having the power of effective action; "he joined forces with a band of adventurers"

effect: (of a law) having legal validity

storm: take by force

If you have watched "Washington Your Fired" you will realize the danger we are in, for they have very carefully created laws that will abolish our right to any type of personal or group force. Once this is enacted, the ONLY way out is with the ultimate use of force against the oppressor.

United States of America

Main article: Internet censorship in the United States

The United States of America is in ONI's nominal category and is not on RSF's internet enemy list. The United States enacted in 1996 the Communications Decency Act, which severely restricted online speech that could potentially be seen by a minor – which, it was argued, was most of online speech. Free speech advocates, however, managed to have most of the act overturned by the courts. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act criminalizes the discussion and dissemination of technology that could be used to circumvent copyright protection mechanisms, and makes it easier to act against alleged copyright infringement on the Internet. Many school districts in the United States frequently censor material deemed inappropriate for the school setting. In 2000, the U.S. Congress passed the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) which requires schools and public libraries receiving federal funding to install internet filters or blocking software.[53] Congress is also considering legislation to require schools and libraries to block access to social networking websites, The Deleting Online Predators Act. Opponents of Internet censorship argue that the free speech provisions of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution bars the government from any law or regulation that censors the Internet.[54]

A January 4, 2007 restraining order issued by U.S. District Court Judge Jack B. Weinstein forbade a large number of activists in the psychiatric survivors movement from posting links on their websites to ostensibly leaked documents which purportedly show that Eli Lilly and Company intentionally withheld information as to the lethal side-effects of Zyprexa. The Electronic Frontier Foundation appealed this as prior restraint on the right to link to and post documents, saying that citizen-journalists should have the same First Amendment rights as major media outlets.[55] It was later held that the judgement was unenforcable, though First Amendment claims were rejected.[56] In March 2008, library employee Brenda Biesterfeld was fired from her job after she alerted police over a man who was then arrested for allegedly viewing child pornography on a computer in the local library. However, County officials claimed that her firing had nothing to do with her report to police. [57]

The Department of Defense filters certain IP addresses. The US military's filtering policy is laid out in a report to congress entitled Department of Defense Personnel Access to the Internet.

Simple truth of the matter is, either your stuck with MSM or the bloggers, and how much information do we all find on the blogs ehh?

But

(Satire)Dont you know that freedom of speech only exists in public places, and since everything is 'private' now, freedom of speech is completely subjected to other peoples definitions of the very term, which then cancels out all freedoms, because of the number of people that have all these 'individual' perceptual subjective definitions of freedom.

Its really amazing though how many people have fallen for the whole 'private establishment' BS that was concocted by some sneaky lawyers, and then the cooperations went and bought all the infrastructure.

Ingenious plan to let the people take free speech away from themselves ehhh?

Its fixing to get worse, as we are now seeing in Canada, they are fixing to role out the North American Firewall; much like China's. Oh, did you see that China is now adopting free speech zones like the US, hmmm, why are all the Governments of the Earth acting the same? lol.....

Anyway, I know many good hearted people they have fallen for it. Never mind that the Supreme Court made it clear that information could flow freely online, regardless of where the information is stored years ago.

Use it quickly, for it might be gone soon. Or, the anal control freaks might spread like a 'virus' and start infecting other networks, until all is locked down, and yes, you have freedom of speech, just no place to speak, CITIZEN....
