More election-rigging here in the People's Republic of North Carolina.

After finally meeting the strictest (not to mention unconstitutional) ballot access requirements in the country, now practically at the last minute they're informing us that the filing fees for our candidates are due July 1!

"This was quite a shock to me. I have been in conversation with them over the past several months. While I knew the deadline for submitting our list of candidates was July 1, when I asked about when the filing fee would be due, the answer given was that the Statute doesn't say, so we are not sure.

"The LPNC was therefore operating under the assumption that once we turned in our list by the July 1 deadline, we would be informed when the fee was due."

WTF are we paying filing fees to begin with when we don't get a primary? NO OTHER CANDIDATE--not even independents--pays a General Election filing fee! Then they pull THIS dirty trick. Sigh.
