I am certain that Obama's reasons for "neglecting" to place his hand over his heart during the national anthem or his refusal to recite the Plague of Allegiance are different than my reasons for not participating in these meaningless gestures. Every four years the POTUS raises one hand while placing his other hand on the Bible and recites the oath of office. A few minutes later, he starts telling how he intends to violate the oath he has just taken, and barely anyone bats an eye. BTW, it is my understanding that the KKK was one of the main proponents of having American school children recite the PoL. There is no evidence that KKK members ever read the whole thing themselves.

It will be great when people stop dwelling on meaningless gestures and start looking at substance. This is not to say that Barack Obama has a lot of substance. At least one thing can be said for him, he does in at least a few instances show more courage than the other major candidates. It is unfortunate that that courage was no where to be found when he spoke before AIPAC. I am much more concerned about his groveling before the Israel Lobby than I am about his middle name or his failure to participate in the "patriotic" garbage.

As I have stated before, if it were to come down to my vote deciding whether Obama or McCain becomes the next president (not my Commander in Chief, see Constitution, Art. II, Sec. 2 ), I would cast it for Hussein in a heartbeat. As for the next occupant of the White House, the choice comes down to the kind of disaster you prefer. The McCain disaster just looks like it would be a few shades uglier than the Obama disaster to me.
