Disgusted: the political prom
|
|
Type of Content: Article It gets harder every day. I gag when I see the obligatory Obama coverage. The flip-flopping, the waffleing the general sh*t that spews from his mouth that I'm supposed to take like a daily vitamin. I throw up a little in my mouth when I see McCain fumbling to tell me how he's going to be any different than the current president, ol' what's his face. I hate to be negative about it all, but I'm really soured on the whole thing. I got Obama and "change" on the one side; the change of taxes and flip flopping and I got McCain on the other, crying like a little girl about not getting the coverage that King Obama does. Then smack dap in the middle, I got Barr asking me for money that I don't have. ARGH!!! I think Jesse "the mind" Ventura was right when he said we should have a "none of the above" party. That's about the only lever I could pull without buyers remoarse. Dissatisfaction, alienation. Hunter Thompson was right when he called it a generation of swine. All it is is a political prom, a popularity contest for the leader of the free world. In the words of the Guiness commercial; Brilliant! Sarcasm, the only chuckle in an otherwise all to obvious racket of an election. I think of Thomas Jefferson, who believed that a president should write, not talk. Then I think of JFK, who made his personal mission to make sure that a president never had to say or do anything of significance and still be liked. Talking out of both sides of the mouth, the 20th century media election. I don't know how Ron Paul can handle it. The nausea of it all. Being a sane mind in a town of pagaent queens. All substance. Obama and McCain are slaves to the masses, the ever elusive news poll. It's getting overwhelming and it's only August.
